We will post seed test results as we get them
back.
We just sent the seed samples away recently of the seed we recently cleaned
We just finished cleaning our Defy Durum and have not sent seed sample away for testing yet.
We have not cleaned our Red Lentils yet and will be cleaning them in the new year.
CDC Impulse Red Lentil
CDC Impulse Red Lentil is a high-yielding Clearfield® especially suitable for the southern regions of the lentil production zone. CDC Impulse has a larger seed diameter and greater seed weight, making it well-suited for the dehulled market.
We have been growing only CDC Impulse Red lentils on our farm since 2018 and will continue to grow them on our farm until we see an improved Red Lentil variety come along.
CDC Defy durum wheat
CDC Defy durum wheat is adapted to the durum production area of the Canadian prairies. This conventional height durum wheat cultivar combines high grain yield, acceptable time to maturity, test weight, and grain protein concentration. CDC Defy is resistant to prevalent races of leaf and stem rust, has excellent common bunt resistance, and demonstrated end-use quality suitable for the Canada Western Amber Durum class.
We have been growing CDC Defy Durum on our farm for 5 years now and we are very happy with it.
It yielded better on Side by side trial than our Precision Durum in 2021.
Previously we had a trial with Precision, Alloy and Spitfire Durum and the Precision Durum
came out on top that year.
For the past 4 years we have had CDC Defy Durum for 100% of our Durum Acres.
CDC Lumio Canary Seed
Very high yielding canary seed variety with great seed quality attributes.
Maple peas
Maple Peas are a specialty market class of field peas characterized by their unique mottled brown or reddish-purple seed coats. They are smaller than a yellow pea and have a lower seed rate. Last year our seed rate was 160 pounds. Once we get our seed test back I can post the suggested seed rate.
CDC Jimini (IBC-1014-SG) is a high yielding small green Clearfield® lentil variety. In 8 years of testing in the Lentil Regional Variety Trials, CDC Jimini yielded 108% in the brown and dark brown soil zones (zones 1 & 2) and 99% in the black and dark grey soil zones (zone 3 & 4) compared to CDC Maxim. Compared to the Clearfield® small green lentil variety CDC Imvincible, CDC Jimini yielded 14% higher in zones 1 & 2 and 18% higher in zones 3 & 4. CDC Jimini also yields 2% higher than the conventional small green lentil CDC Kermit. Seed diameter and thickness are both higher than that of CDC Imvincible, making CDC Jimini more suitable for lentil dehulling. Disease resistance of CDC Jimini is similar to CDC Imvincible. Application for PBR’91 protection for CDC Jimini has been submitted.
